Thunderbird question! - 9/20/2006 1:44:31
I dont use thunderbird for mail myself, and the wife uses it at work.
What she wants to know, is does it have a calendar / reminder system like outlook does?
I dont really want to install it to find out :-)

She just wants to schedule important stuff and be reminded of it automatically (like husbands birthday:)) when checking mail.
Does it do it normally or is there an add in you can point me to?

Cheers :)

Not that I've ever been able to find - given that it's Moz, maybe it's a plugin?

edit: ok apparently it's called Lightning and it is a plugin for Tbird to do exactly this:

I think I'll install it myself today - I'll let you know how it goes

I used to use it but it was a bit basic and I've replaced it with a standalone. They may have improved it now though.

My standalone is called Essential PIM and has a free version. The downside is it doesn't talk to Thunderbird only Outlook or Outlook Express.

Downloaded and installed it - it is basic but that's fine by me, I don't need or want anything fancy.

It's got the big calendar page in the main pane and a small calendar plus an agenda for the day in the left hand column under all the email folders.

You have to be using the latest version of Tbird for this to work. Download Lightning to your desktop, open Tbird and use the Extensions option to install it. Restart Tbird and you're there.

Ahh they have changed it, it was a separate app when I had it.
