Layers? Frames? What the F$*#? - 9/23/2006 7:27:57
Hi there, i'm new to Frontpage, and building my first website at the mo.

I've made a design for a website in Photoshop, yet don't know how to implement it into Frontpage. The design consists of a frame in the centre of the screen, with links along side it.
When clicking on a link, the corresponding web page appears then appears inside the frame

Does anyone know how to do this. Presumably it has something to do with layers???

Here is an example of my home webpage:

Well it's not the way I work but there are others on here who design in Photoshop and I'm currently doing a horror of a site where they got a design house to do the same thing.

As I understand it you design your page and then use Photoshop to SLICE the image. You control what you want where and it then creates a table with the layout. You then work with that table in FP.

There's a page that'll give you some pointers here , other than that I can't help you.

The problem with doing it that way is you end up with tables for layout and loads of padding gifs. If you're not bothered about that then fine but those of us who use css for layout find it a nightmare.

I'm sure if you hang on till the weekend is over some of the others will be on and may be able to help you more.

It's a tough one because you have to think about all the different possible screen resolutions of people looking at the site - from 800x600 up to a widescreen resolution - difficult with single image backgrounds...

What I'd do is work it so that the bit on the right hand side of the screen is just blue background - with the main background image over towards the left of the page set as the background image for a full height/width div. The main background colour of the body would be the same blue - that way it will still look reasonable for wide screens. Course there's the height issue too which might be harder to work around.
