Computer Crashed - 9/27/2006 10:20:23
Hi Everyone,

I am not very computer savvy and have found myself in a very bad situation. My 17YO daughter has helped me with my website but failed to back-up this site. Long story short, the comp she was doing the updates on crashed, and it has to be reformatted. I use Register.com as my hosting service and was able to upload the files from their server. The problem is, there are a zillion files that I no longer use and when I go to publish, of course, the "Remote website property" box pops up and when I put my web address in it says it cannot be the same as my local remote site. Now I am realizing that I can't upload all those files anyway because there are so many old files. I started going through all the files and deleting them or right clicking and saying "do not publish" I know there must be an easier way and my site has been down for a week now and I need to update it. As I'm reading through this forum I am learning about synchronizing, but I'm afraid I'm lost. Please tell me there is an easier way. Thank-you all in advance. I'm glad I've found this forum, it's a wealth of information. I use FP 2003.
Kind regards,

Lynn

Log into you web site live on the host and choose publish. Then browse to a location on your hard drive. You will then have the site locally on your computer.

Uploading from the server

If you mean you FTPd them then you will need to do the above still.

Take care,

Brian
