For SE purposes, is it better to add content to existing pages or add new pages? I have content that I want to add (after refreshing existing content) but I'm debating whether it is better to add to existing pages or add new pages. After implementing robot.txt files I'll have 7 pages (Home, Garments , Order, FAQ'S, Emb Designs, News & Site Map that will be spiderable. Three of those pages may already be too long so I'm guessing that I shouldn't add to those. I can easily add 1-2 pages without having a problem but my concern is if I add additional pages those pages won't be as visible to human visitors. I want to maintain clarity but have a content rich site. The site is www.sunembroideryscreenprinting.com. Thanks.

IMO more pages is the answer. Google only looks at the first 500 characters words on a page anyway (or used to, this may have changed).

If it was my site I'd change the menu and have dropdowns so you can add extra pages without affecting site layout.

Check out which browsers they work in though and make sure at the very least it's IE6, FF and Opera. If it doesn't work in FF then you're probably screwed when IE7 rolls out.

I concur.

I routinely analyze my log files to see what SEs are giving me users and what "keyword phrases" they are coming in on. When I see spikes in content pages I create more content on that particular sub genre/topic. This, IMHO, gives people more of what they come to me for. Hopefully this draws users back as repeat users. It also helps boost me higher for said "keyword phrase" as I then have even more supporting content for the SE to spider.

I also believe it is still 500 words also.

I'm very pleased with my combination of popups and drop down menus w/links. It allows me to add lots of pages but have tons of stuff for perusal on the index. See Communication Skills Tutorial for Managers

I have a webpage with 500+ words. I just checked Google for a phrase that's at the very bottom of the page (and is not anything people would search for anyway). Google found it - so I reckon it looks at the entire page...

It does but the weight for the SERP result diminishes.
