ORIGINAL: Alan256 Hi jaybee, As I understand it, in order to get Dynamic Web Templates to work with EW, I must have FrontPage Server Extensions installed on the server. If I didn't care about DWT, then I wouldn't need FPSE. Thanks, Alan DWT's have nothing to do with FrontPage Extensions. the DWT is actually applied locally to your pages before published. In fact, there is really no reason to even have the DWT on the remote site. Hi Windsun, So FPSE are only needed on the server for the legacy FrontPage "bots" functionality? (I personally don't need the "bots" stuff, just DWT and link maintenance) What is the relationship between FPSE and those hidden _vti folders? It sounds like you are saying those are independent? As I understand it, DWT is a "design time" only thing? So I would need the _vti folders locally on my computer at "design time", because that is where the "metadata" used by DWT lives. Right? But I don't need the _vti folders on the Internet server, because they aren't used at "viewing time". Right? So the best setup for using DWT with EW is to enable metadata for the local copy of my site (which will create the _vti folders on my local machine)? Then publish to the Internet server using FTP rather than FPSE (both are options in EW's publishing dialog)? And if I use FTP to publish to the Internet, I won't need FPSE for that, so I can tell my host to uninstall the FPSE stuff from my site? (Lots of questions ;-) Thanks, Alan
