please let me know any suggestions or comments you have about the website I have designed. The address is www.hcmortgagelending.com. Keep in mind it is my first site to design commercially.

Hi, palehorse.

First, congratulations for getting this far. And hopefully this first will not be your last. With that said, shall we begin?

DISCLAIMER: This is only my opinion. :)

1. Home Page
  • The first thing I notice is that there's no logo. Is their a reason for that? Is that what the picture of what seems to be someone's home is for, or is that the HC Mortgage Lending office?
  • It's a simple layout. Almost too simple. There seems like there should be more pertinent information on this page to draw me in more.
2. About Us Page
  • Instead of having additional links to get more information for the employees you should just put them on this page. That's less time I have to spend clicking links.
  • There's a lot of space between the 1st and 2nd paragraph.
  • You might want to put in information about where they're located, how long they've been in that area, etc.
3. Apply Now
  • That first statement could be considered misleading. Being pre-approved does not increase your chances of getting your dream home. However, it does speed up the process of purchasing a home.
  • I would let people know that there are different ways to fill out the applications on this page - Online and PDF. You may also want to put a link to the Adobe site where they can download Acrobat if they do not have it.
  • You may also want to include some facts about Pre-Approval and how it would benefit the visitor.
4. Contact Us Page
  • It is what it is.
5. Calculators Page
  • Are you sure you want to have an image on here that gives the impression of a negative balance?
6. Loan Process Page
  • The paragraph in the middle should be on the first line.
  • The names in the links under 'The Loan Process' do not match the names in the descriptions below.
7. FAQs Page
  • Hmmm...the best way I could say it is I would need an FAQ to understand the FAQs. It needs to be redone.

Final Thoughts:

Overall you've got most of the ingredients in place. You just need to put them together to make the cake. :)
