OK Thom,

Front Page was very easy to publish only selected files. Expression has the same feature, but gives an error message about not being able to find the host on Port 21.

What is that about? Expression will publish the entire web no problem. Why is it giving me an error about publishing fewer pages?

thanks
Jerry

Port 21 is FTP so you are now using FTP. Make sure you have all your FTP settings. You might try an IP address instead of your domain name. And make sure that the FTP user name / password is the same as your Frontpage username / password

Hmmmm. Have you done this?

Site > Site Settings > Check "Manage site using metadata files.

That should make EW behave just like FP when publishing.

That is interesting. I do not have a "manage" under "site settings."

If I am no longer using Front Page, do I still need FP extensions enabled on the server. Should I avoid using the publish method that uses Front page extensions?

I would since FPSE are no longer really being supported by Frontpage. I am stil using the Publish feature only because I did try the FTP and it errored out and I know that the FTP program in Frontpage was not that good and it makes me wonder if they have actually upgraded the program.

Under Site Settings, I have tabs for General, Preview, Advanced, Langauge, and Database.

Under Remote Web Site Properties, I have use source file timestamps to determine changes since last publish checked. I had the other one first on the FTP one but I have not tested it since changing it

That line confuses me. Becuase FPSE extensions are no longer being supported, YOU WOULD keep the extensions enabled on the server? I do not get that. Expression is still using Themes and such. IF FP is no longer suporting extensions, then why isn't the solution to begin modifying the web away from any Front page created themes? AND disabling extension from the server?

Thanks
Jerry
