A twisted favicon question - 10/13/2006 10:35:38
Hi out there,

:)
A stupid question:
Is it possible to make a subdomain show a different favicon than the one of the domain?
(Assuming you add in the root of the subdomain the new favicon I made and the equivalent code adjusted?
:)

Thanks

Cal

I use a different favicon on different sub-directories on a couple of my domains - they're sub-directories, rather than subdomains, but it should work the same. As long as you've got the favicon file in the root directory of the subdomain and your link to it's location in the subdomain, it should work just the same.

thanks womble,

I tried it in a subdomain and it didn't work. Instead I see the favicon of the domain, :) which I think would be semi-reasonable not to show in the subdomain. :)
So I was actually thinking that there must be sth I do wrong or have not considered.

thanks again

Cal

I seem to remember there've been discussions about this before - if you do a search you may come up with something.

Make sure your page is not being cached... Also, can we get a link?

I made it work by copy-pasting the code on each htm file, which unfortunately does not work for links refering to an image and open in a different window.
But if I open it from the forwarded domain the favicon disappears:)
and I presume that there is no cure for that...
here is
