Proxy Bypass - 10/13/2006 10:39:32
We have a proxy server on our server which seems to be causing one of our employees a problem. They need to access health data from a third party company. Some of the reports they have to run take a long time. I have been doing some testing and have found that the IE timeout period needs to be expanded. I have added a registry Timeout and it works fine. Logging onto the site and running the query with the new timeout and it all works fine. Extending the timeout and running the query through our server and it fails.

Apparently, we need to bypass our proxy server. The company told us:

"This may require that Internet Explorer on client PCs be configured not to use a proxy for these addresses, possible implementation of policy based routing to give those hosts / users an alternate path out of the network, and appropriate security privileges assigned for hosts / users to access an alternate path around the proxy server."

How would we go about doing this?

I realise that this might be quite complicated but any guidance would be helpful.

Steve
