one here for fireworks - you could adapt it for whatever you have?? otherwise search for 'coffee stain in [your app]" ;)

jaybee -> RE: i need help (10/18/2006 15:33:15)

I'm beginning to think I'm completely losing it today,
one where for fireworks?

curious monkey -> RE: i need help (10/18/2006 15:46:32)

womble -> RE: i need help (10/18/2006 15:49:14)

Some here on Stock.xchng - there's also some on Stockxpert, their low cost images sister site, and also here on Istockphoto (again, low cost - images from $1).

womble -> RE: i need help (10/18/2006 15:59:45)

Of course there is a much easier way to do that Dave....[;)]

Step 1 - Find someone, anyone'll do, but someone you don't like works best, and punch them in the nose.
Step 2 - Quickly hand them some paper to drip on.
Step 3 - While they're bleeding all over the place, whip out your digital camera and snap some pics quick
Step 4 - Transfer to computer. Voila!

For added cup rings, simply place mug of coffee on piece of paper while waiting for PC to boot up inbetween steps 3 and 4!

If you search in google images for "cofee stains" you will find that there are hundreds of sad individuals who have nothing better to do than scan pictures of coffe stains and put them on a web site. I am sure that none of these would be worried about copyright etc and they would find copyright theft difficult (if not impossible) to prove. It's quicker than making your own and scanning it. Although a tip is to use a solution of gravy browning when making your "mug ring" stain because coffee stains tend to dry out very light and don't look so good. Brown sauce is also quite good "HP" tends to be thicker and easier to print from than "Daddies".

anderskorte -> RE: i need help (10/19/2006 12:35:24)

I know an artist who paints with coffee on canvas, but I don't see the point in using a coffee stain in design? Is it some new trend?

curious monkey -> RE: i need help (10/19/2006 15:42:00)

nope no new trend... i just like odd things like that... I only just started using photoshop a lot so i'm trying to learn and do all of my off the wall ideas... so there [:P][sm=tongue.gif]

anderskorte -> RE: i need help (10/19/2006 16:04:39)

I wonder how a coffee stain would communite, um...

It's not just you liking odd things, there are also many coffee stain related photos on those stock photo sites, which kind of surprised me. I mean, like, coffee stains as stock photos? Come on. [8D]

....anyhow, back on topic...as a young womble for an English exam assessment I once had to create a newspaper in the style of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Not having any parchment handy, after a little experimentation I discovered the best way to simulate the effect was to soak the paper in strong coffee and then dry it out in the microwave where it wrinkled very effectively. I then used brown ink to write it in, and doctored some photocopies of some phtotos borrowed from my English teacher from her honeymoon in Verona, including one of her on the actual balcony and I turned her hubby into a monk for the purposes of the assignment. I got an 'A' for that. I've still got it somewhere.

What on earth is going on, I fall over and have to go to hospital, come back with a case of bruised ribs and the Outfront world has gone mad!

We are discussing "found" art, Anders is being sniffy, Womble is baring all and Little Monkey is being a little monkey encouraging it all.
Pass the pain killers someone because it hurts like h*** when I laugh.

womble -> RE: i need help (10/20/2006 6:37:34)

Ah just the usual OF silliness Caz! [:D] Fear not though, it's not the effect of those painkillers and you aren't hallucinating this thread. I do hope Donkey's taking good care of you, providing waiter service and convalescant services. Let us know if he's not and we'll send the boys round to sort him out for you. [;)]
