steveg -> Microsoft Word Label Template Issue (10/23/2006 10:52:00)

I have some labels that I needed to design a template for. The dimensions are as follows:

Top Margin - 1.8cm
Side Margin 1.4cm
Vertical Pitch 4.7cm
Horizontal Pitch 3.7cm
Label Height 4.5cm
Label Width 3.5cm
Number Across 5
Number Down 6

This should give me the labels with a 2mm gap between and above/below. However, all I get are the labels with no spacing. If I increase the vertical pitch to 4.8cm and the horizontal pitch to 3.8cm I get the spaces but obviously 1mm too large. As soon as I reduce to the correct size the spacing disappears again. Is there some limitation on minimum spacing that I am not aware of?

Thanks

Steve

I suggest you forget the word built-in label templates and build your own starting from scratch with a blank page and use tables.

Fix the table cell sizes to what you want so that they don't expand with content, then save the page as a .dot template file.

I've worked this way for years and have several templates I use on a daily basis. You have much more control doing it this way.

You could also try the Avery label plug-in.

There are also loads of templates and wizards here http://www.avery.com/us/software/index.jsp
