Nicole -> Local Business Listings . . . (10/25/2006 5:21:01)

Now that I'm at my new location I thought I'd look up and maybe list my site on a few local business listings.

Being in the middle of three different major regional centres, I thought it'd be great, I'll list with all three areas I can find business listings for in Google.

Some ask for registration fees, others you have to read their terms and conditions, others you have to live locally and others don't ask any questions at all.

I registered with a few, but became sick of it as there was just too many.

What is the benefit of doing this? Backlinks? Is it worth doing?

Nicole

Any of the links you find that have good Page Rank ratings and that will link to you is to your site's benefit. The SE's will take notice and note that your web site is an important one.

It may be tedious and time-consuming, but's that's business [;)]

Thanks for commenting Tony.

I had forgotten about the Google Ranking, and have, unfortunately, already linked to a couple who had rankings of only 1 or 2. My opening page ranking is 5, which makes me wonder if I even should link to any site with even a 4 ranking. I always thought 4 was kind of average, and therefore probably worth linking to, but now I'm not so sure.

Nice page rank. Actually, 3 is really easy to get, while 4 is the hurdle. Once you hit that, you're doing nicely.
