Repetitive H4 Tags Considered Spam? - 10/26/2006 14:39:47
I'm redoing my web that is based on a template. The sidebar cells had H4 tags. I'm changing the format so that a lot of the sidebar information will be the same on each page & not necessarily keyword worthy. For example, I'm adding a sidebar navigation menue on each page that is titled "Information About". Should this be given a H4 tag? Might this be considered repetitive information if it is found on every page of my web? Thanks!

A header is a header and should have a header tag. If it's not a header then it shouldn't. Google won't penalise you for that, menus tend to be the same on every page.

I think it is not correct useage but there would be no "penalty" via Google.

Take care,

Brian
