[Intel MB DQ965GF] Can't recognize IDE DVD-ROM on Linux - 10/27/2006 0:04:19
Hi all.
When I go through the latest Fedora Core 6 installation, the installer (anaconda) asked me where my installation media is located, I chose "Local CDROM", then it reported
"UNABLE TO FIND ANY DEVICES OF THE TYPE NEEDED FOR THIS INSTALLATION TYPE. WOULD YOU LIKE TO MANUALLY SELECT YOUR DRIVER OR USE A DRIVER DISK?"

It seems that there's something to deal with the recognization of the IDE controller chip of my Intel DQ965GF motherboard. But it seems to be very unlikely that even the latest version of Linux OS which was released days ago couldn't support the IDE chip that was shipped months ago. Though that's the case, Intel has not released any driver to solve that issue yet.

So.. if anyone here knows how to deal with this, please drop me a few lines, I will be grateful to try all possible methods. Thank you so much.

My Configuration
MB: Intel DQ965GF (Q965 chipset & on board Intel display/SigmaTel sound/Intel LAN, Bios #5434)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86GHz)
RAM: Samsung 512Mb x 2 @ 533 (Dual channel)
HD: Western Digital 320Gb ks (on SATA-II)
DVD-ROM: NEC 3500AG (on IDE)
