Just a warning for php users - 10/30/2006 6:33:58
This may just be the beta but I work a lot with php files and include files. Some of my include files are php.

EW doesn't like them at all and keeps sticking weird bits of code in at the top, presumably to try and make sense of them but the upshot is, you upload them and nearly have a heart attack when your page suddenly flies all over the place.

Last night it kept shoving head tags in with an internal style of border:0

It's a microsoft program, they don't own php, therefore won't support it fully, or at all. End of :P

Obviously but you think they'd at least set it up so it leaves the code alone rather than adding spurious bits and pieces when you're not looking.

This is why people don't like M$ - they force you to use a limited set of solutions. Why would anyone want to limit themselves to just using ASP .NET? Is this the package that's aimed at professionals or is it just hobbyists (genuinely not sure). If it's aimed at professionals then it would mean that they couldn't work on a php site for a client without rebuilding it completely!

If you're a professional who uses a WYSIWYG then why on earth would you want to use EW rather than say DW?

Not cool. Not cool at all.

I have to say I was only using it as a text editor, no WYSIWYG at all so I'm baffled as to why it kept adding bits. It only seemed to do it when you saved and closed the page (ie. so you wouldn't notice until you loaded the page online).

I had a perfectly valid include page, saved as .inc which I've done loads of times before.
The php was down the bottom and the include started with <div class=
when I went back to check I had

              <head>
<style>
              border:0;                 <style>
</head>

The bit before the <head> that looks empty was full of those non printable characters you sometimes get in editors trying to handle php where when you upload the page it displays an upside down question mark followed by other crud.
