Tailslide -> AVG firewall keeps stopping? (10/31/2006 2:48:39)

Hi

I'm using the AVG paid-for firewall/antivirus but the Firewall keeps stopping and flagging up a warning and then 30 seconds or so later, re-starting.

Any ideas what's causing this? It's kept fully up to date.

Bug in AVG
Conflict between AVG and Windows Firewall
Virus/Trojan on your machine that's stopping it
?

I dunno what it was - seems to have stopped now...

I run spybot and adaware (for what that's worth) checks daily and AVG updates itself daily AND does a full check daily. Nowt came up.

I'd also like to moan about the fact that since I've removed IE7 from my laptop leaving IESick in place it now drops it's connection all the time again like it used to.

Also, everything's really slow today.

Also, I've fogotten to take my "medicine" again apparently. [:-]

Might have been AVG and an update has now been applied.

You could always remove IESick and use AOL instead. [:D]

I'm running AVG Anti-virus / Windows firewall on three machines with zero problems.

Just a suggestion: disable the AVG firewall then enable the Windows firewall.

Good luck [8D]

I know plenty of people who are running either AVG free or paid with no probs, and it was running fine on my desktop, but I had no end of problems with it stopping and starting and locking everything up on my laptop, hogging loads of memory, etc., etc. No idea why because it was essentially the same setup as on the desktop. I ended up ditching it and switching to BitDefender firewall/AV. No probs since (and they gave me a three month extension to my licence yesterday for doing a survey on what I thought of the software [:)]).
