from outlook express to outlook multiple messages - 11/1/2006 13:40:12
our secretary/office administrator has recently moved from outlook express to outlook (the full thiny with calendar and er extra crunchy bits). anyway everything was ok but when she opens it she gets messages from a few days ago that have already been received. this is the way things are set up
- outlook is set as default mail package
- copies of the messages are left on the server until deleted messages in outlook are permanently deleted
- the deleted folder has been cleared
- receiving messages is left to to complete and does so without errors
- messages are check every 1 minute
- there are three accounts, 2 at chargercomposites.com, and one at venebjorndahl.fi (the 2 charger ones are separate accounts i.e 1 isn't an alias of the other
when i close outlook and open it up again it checks for mail and redownloads the 64 messages again for the third time ! i've marked messages as read and they still download.
MS help was useless - both off and online, and i didn't find much in my couple of minutes googling
obvisously getting around 100 messages repeated 3-4 times a day isn't too productive
any ideas?? :)

great answer - just what i wanted to hear :) :)
well of course i would recommend thunderbird but they want to use outlook with its calendar features and sync functions for organisers and stuff... i guess i can say it's just one of those things :(
i guess it's not the host as it's tom's own rolled (i.e. outfront hosting!) and we've never had any other problems - incidentally it was working fine in outlook express

one thing in there i suspected was that the check account for new mail could be set too low, at only one minute. i'll try it at half and hour or so tomorrow and see! thanks for finding that and i'll get back with progress - or lack of!
