Page width - 11/2/2006 18:25:45
I've almost completed a site in EW and had the opportunity today to look at it in IE on a pc that I installed for a neighbor. To my distress, I find that the site scrolls l to r. Her screen resolution is 800x600. When I preview the site on my own pc, it is fine in any browser at any resolution. It validates in W3C. Any suggestion as to the source of the problem would be appreciated. Thanks. Linda

Hi Linda, after a play around with the size of your header image, the container div size and removal of Layer 4 I got the scroll to vanish - but that was only hacking as a quick fix.

There is a lot happening in your code with many fixed width conflicts and conflicts in the styles (the css does not validate). The table cells are set to add up to more than the total table width. FP Layers can cause problems as well.

If you don't want to rebuild I'd suggest you remove all the styles and add them back one by one as needed, looking carefully at any fixed width settings. The Layers could be changed to div's in your style sheet.

If you don't mind a rebuild then a simple table layout without layers would work better and be easier to manage. If you would rather use styles for your positioning then you will get lots of great help at the CSS board on this forum.

I love the photo you used on the header, very calming :)
