d a v e Posts: 4071 Joined: 7/24/2002 From: England (but live in Finland now) Status: online	new monitor - 11/4/2006 14:02:01 my old crt died yesterday so o'm on a borrowed 'old school' 15 inch crappy monitor, my mate's old one anyway onto the question: my budget is very limited and while i always try to invest in the best i can avoid with a wife and 2 kids it's tft screen are NOT priority (at least not in the same way as car seats - for which you could buy a small African country with the same money) so i'm looking at either a Fujitsu Siemens, Scaleoview T19-2 19" TFT (reduced from 399 euros to 229) or Acer AL1916AS 19" pretty similar specs but not sure about the 'names' i assume the Fujitsu is (probably) made by someone else anyway?? also is there anything i need to look out for as far as connectivity goes? of course if i lived in America i could probably pick one up for less than a hundred bucks, but for those of us that live in the second world i can only get what's available ;) thanks for any recommendations - i'll be ordering something tonight as i can't wait and i'll post back as to what i ordered so you know not to post after that with recommendations ;) btw the specs are here but in finnish http://www.netanttila.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=1444&catalogId=1444&shopId=19651&compartmentId=10021&categoryId=28166&productId=175638 http://www.netanttila.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=1444&catalogId=1444&shopId=19651&compartmentId=10021&categoryId=28166&productId=180793 _____________________________ David Prescott Gekko web design

With monitors, rely more on their name than the actual specs. A monitor from a good brand is usually better than one from an unknown brand with better specs. I suggest grabbing a monitor with DVI, the difference is amazing. If your video card has a DVI input, you will see a huge difference. If it only has VGA, then you can use a connector that changes the DVI to VGA so you can plug it into your video card. (If you use the connector then the signal will no longer be DVI, and thus won't look as good as a DVI signal). OH had one that arrived with one, smack bang in the middle of the screen. It drove me nuts. We got onto the manufacturer and they said they only take back anything with three or more dead pixels, anything below that is considered acceptable. _____________________________ If it ain't broke..... fix it until it is.
