Tailslide -> Accessible Suckerfish Dropdown (11/11/2006 3:40:38)

Keep meaning to post this here - recently came across a keyboard accessible version of the Son of Suckerfish dropdown:

http://carroll.org.uk/sandbox/suckerfish/bones2.html

There are very few useful, keyboard accessible horizontal dropdown menus (the old suckerfish menu is technically keyboard accessible but since you can't actually see the dropdowns, you're keying through invisible links which is pointless) - the ones I know about aren't free either.

I tend to completely avoid dropdowns because of this exact issue.

Thanks Tail..

I'm about to redesign a large site that simply must use a dropdown menu and was going to use one of Stu Nicoll's ones even though I knew it wasn't fully accessible.

Thanks for posting this here.

the project vii ones are accessible as well (if you mean when you tab through them then they open and you can see the link you tab to from there?!) though the menu systems aren't free (and for use with DW only). just thought i'd add this for those who maybe aren't up to implementing the suckerfish type. good link though :)

Yeah the P7 one is one of those that I was referring to (that and UDM4) - but it's no good unless you have DW and are willing to pay for it.

yep that's why the suckerfish ones are better (i.e. free) if you can use them :)
