Some of you may find this interesting - 11/17/2006 12:46:24The link goes to a page that gives users of JAWS hints and tips on what to do when they encounter an inaccessible page.
It has some useful info for us designers as it explains the order Jaws processes things. For Example..
quote:
# Press the SPACEBAR to cycle through the available options. Choose one of the following:
* Title - JAWS first looks for and reads information provided by the TITLE attribute. If no title text is found, JAWS reads the on screen text. * Screen Text - JAWS reads the on screen text. * On Mouse Over - JAWS looks for "OnMouseOver quoted text" and speaks it. * Longest - JAWS speaks the longest string of information for each link. * Custom Search - JAWS searches for information in the order specified in Configuration Manager, HTML Options and reads the first information found.

Darn confusing though as the user could have that lot set up in any order. I've been using Opera Voice to check pages out but that is part CSS2 and part CSS3 and CSS3 keeps changing. A number of CSS2 aural styles are deprecated in CSS3 so you can't use those. Confused R us.
What I found interesting about that link though was the list of keys and what is used for what. Another good reason to avoid accesskeys.

I've been given a full copy of Jaws. You know that whooshing sound you get when things shoot straight over your head.
It's amazing though when you use aural how you can get that monotonous electronic voice to change. I could play for hours.
