womble -> Uninstalled apps that won't go away (11/19/2006 20:27:13)

There are times when you really shouldn't listen to your mother. One of those times is when she suggests that you should install the Disney Interactive PC games that one of the newspapers has been giving away this week to keep your nephew amused. Now normally he gets let no-where near Diva, but I bowed to the pressure of the thought of keeping him quiet for at least 5 minutes. Installed one of the games okay and all seemed well, though the installation instructions say minimum requirement is Win XP, but installing the damned thing it says it requires Win 95, then says I have Win 95 so that's okay and carries on installing (I have Win XP Pro). First game runs okay and behaved, but then the second one turns out to be the game from hell (quite apart from the irritating Disney style background music that doesn't have an 'off' option. Damned thing kept complaining about my graphics card, was not the most user friendly app I've ever seen (no instructions as to how to do anything), half of it simply wouldn't work, and then when I decided it was cr@p and simply had to go, it took me 10 minutes to get out of the damned thing and get it off there (something telling you that unless you escaped out of all the screens it'd keep restarting might have been helpful). Anyway, the uninstall icon wouldn't work (said something about an installation log missing), and it didn't come up in the control panel>add/remove programs list either, so I ended up just deleting the folder from the program files directory. It's still showing on the start>all programs menu though, despite the fact that I deleted it and then emptied the recycle bin. It's just ocurred to me that right clicking the icon on the menu and deleting should get rid of that too, but as I'd already deleted it's whole directory, emptied the recycle bin, and rebooted for good measure, I can't understand why the icon would still be there. Any clues?
