Is there a Scriptina font wannabe? - 11/21/2006 20:54:19
I like using Scriptina for lots of my design work, however, when I try and make it large (over 30 pt) it turns into a series of lines, if that makes sense. It doesn't stay a solid line. (I'm using Photoshop 7.0, if that matters.)

Sample attached.

Is this just a Scriptina issue?

If so, can anyone recommend another free frilly font?

Many thanks!
Heidi

Some fonts have a size limit. Try looking round http://www.fontfreak.com/

I had Scriptina on my machine, but I've lost it for some reason, so I can't try it out.

I'm not very good at script fonts. You can try out Freebooter Script, but it's not as delicate as Scriptina. If you are a fan of grunge, get Porcelain. All others I can think of are commercial.

I think the larger image is how the font is intended to look, on the smaller sizes the white spaces get lost.

Depending on how many you have to do, why don't you just save the large font wording as images and then fill in the spaces?

That's an idea....I'll try that for the items which I REALLY want Scriptina! Thanks!

Though, I noticed that the Freeboter Font did the same thing...interesting...

Well, then the problem isn't in the fonts. Check your Photoshop options, you might have some sort of highlighting or emboss feature enabled.

By the way, you're not the only one who likes Scriptina. I see it everywhere, all the time. It's probably one of the most popular script fonts at least on websites. (Although in over-use, nothing can beat Zapfino.)

Thanks...I'll have to see what other fonts do it. Maybe it's just the freebies I've downloaded. (Some fonts work fine in large print...)

I do like Zapfino. Thank you! I make actually purchase a font for a change!

May I then recommend my personal favorite, Liana.
