Web-Bot Email configuration - 11/8/2001 20:52:00
Okay, here's what.... I am looking to pass an email address variable into a form's mailto action. I can do this by bypassing the FrontPage Web Bot stuff. However, the browser opens up my mail client rather than just sending the email. So, what I'm asking is this... Can you pass an email address variable into FrontPage's form results Web Bot? I know it is a silly thing to do but my server Admin is having problems with the CDONTS component & this is my attempt at a work around... Thanks much!------------------

Explain some more, the code you have tried and the problem? CDONTS isnt required for the FP web bot, but correct extension setup is.Theres a little info in the FAQ above about email via FP as well ------------------ §þððk¥ "I am Spooky of Borg. RE: Web-Bot Email configuration - 11/9/2001 20:56:00
Thanks for getting back Spooky. I am trying to make a web page automatically send an email to a user (a different user every time) depending on the user name that is passed to the form. Like I said, I can accomplish this by making the form's action mailto: but rather than the email being sent behind the scenes, the browser forces the mail client to open in front of the user and waits for the user to click send. Now, I noticed that FP's Web Bot does not do this. When you use the Bot, and provide an email address, the bot just sends the email without opening the user's mail client. So, with that said, I was wondering if it were possible to pass a different email address into the Bot on the fly. Or if there is another way to make the mailto: action not open the user's mail client. Once again, we may not need to do any of this if my server administrator can get SMPT & CDONTS to work on our server. (Then we'll just use ASP) Thanks for your help!
