Bored of the same old web layout? - 11/23/2006 6:13:41
You've done square sites, rectangular sites (and elongated squares if you're Jaybee :)), you've done full width sites, and centred ones, you've placed your nav across the top, your nav down the side. Sometimes it all starts to feel a bit "samey"...where do you go from there?

This site is "A visual reference of website layouts for the web designer/client". Ithas no colours, no code or (x)html/css instructions - just pictures in black and white. You don't get distracted by the colour schemes or the content, because there is none. Looking at the layouts, an awful lot are going to be graphics based, but even if you're a strict CSS only designer, there's loads of ideas for unusual layouts and ideas you can use as a starting point to move away from the same old square box by using different elements from different layouts to create something unique.

That's intriguing. Wonder how easy it'll be to actually do one. I may give it a go. I have a site to do for a bicycle shop and the muse not only deserted me, it hopped on its bike and rode off into the sunset.

Not too many graphics please. My 28k dialup gets bored waiting for them to load here at TreeTops Ranch.

"Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

They got the 'Brunt' and you outfront'ed them... and burst their bandwidth.. way to go:)

I'll check it out later when it's available... hee hee

Oooooops! :)

Just sharing my discoveries with everyone else. That's the trouble with Stumble-upon-ing when you're bored - you find things you'd never even think of looking for, and then just have to share them with the world! :)

Thanks to Domenic for looking me up on WHOIS and sending me an email about the bandwidth. I've gone ahead and fixed the bandwidth so that the page should be showing up now.

Thanks to Womble for giving the site a shout-out!

I have now discovered this forum and see that it is a great resource for webmasters. Glad I registered. :)

As for that link that begins with https://, that is very weird, because that "Crown and Keys" thing has nothing to do with me.

Welcome and sorry about the bandwidth. :)

Might be worth having a word with your host about the other thing.

Absolutely going to contact my host. It makes me wonder if someone has pirated my server or something.

Thanks for the welcome!

Please come back and let us know. It's happened to someone else on here recently too. IN theory they shouldn't be able to register an SSL if they don't own the domain so it may just be a screw up but just in case it's fraud I'd jump on it fast.
