Im looking for sowftware (or prefeably an Adobe plugin) that will allow me make a certain type of pattern. I have a feeling its a CAD system creates these types of patterns but have been totally unsucessful in finding ANYTHING about it online. Here is a rather poor sample of what i mean. See the graphic to the right, in the grey header bar where it says 'Jonmat Premium Contract Matt' http://www.johnstones-paints.co.uk/default_majestic.asp?section=14&product=31

sorry I dont have any better references but as I said I just cant find any samples or anything about any application that will create such patterns.
They almost look like some sort of map relief lines, vortex or contouring pattern.

Have a look here: http://www.istockphoto.com/index.php There are literally thousands of images and I'm sure you'll find a similar image there - probably a vector one I guess.

I think something similar can be done in photoshop or PSP by drawing a grid and then warping it but you'd need to know what you're up to and I don't.

OpenOffice.org uses a similar pattern:

Can be done with some 3D modeling program (easiest), or with bezier curves in some graphics program (much more difficult but possible).

You can do something like this in Photoshop with the Perspective and Skew tools. But it's not what you're looking for.
