How do digital picture frames work exactly? I'm thinking about getting one as a gift; however, I want to make sure they are easy to work before I buy one.

How do they store pictures? Is it a flash card from the camera they put directly into the picture frame? If that is the case, do certain picture frames only work with certain cameras?

Depends on the frame. Most if not all take a card some allow you to connect the camera direct.

It appears the more expensive ones are direct connect...I'm looking to get one for 100 dollars US. Maybe I'll get lucky at amazon / ebay :)

I certainly wouldn't be offended Nick, I did after all put them on the internet. All I ask is that you don't claim it as your own (or try to sell it [8D]) Not that the quality on the small images is saleable. [;)]

Has anyone here purchased a digital frame? They are quite expensive and I would hate to purchase a crappy one. But what a great gift idea for the wife!
