mrabc -> NetGear Wireless USB - Computer cannot connect (12/7/2006 17:33:43)

Hi,

I bought the above wireless adaptor today to connect a second home pc to my broadband, but have had no success in getting a connection.

I install the software fine and when prompted insert the USB but the computer just cannot connect to the wireless adaptor.

Ive looked in the Network Connections folder in Control Panel and all its says is NetGear USB Wireless and 'Not Connected' underneath. Ive had a go at clicking random options but with no joy.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

You have a wireless router? The wireless section is turned on?
Down by the clock in the system tray you should see a wireless connection icon, right click it and select "show available wireless networks", do you see yours in the list?

Yes I see my BT Hub on the list but when I try to connect it says 'unable to connect using BTHomeHub-5600' ?

Have you logged into the router itself and enables wireless networking?

You may also need to use the network key for the security. My wireless is setup using WPA security with a 128bit paraphrase password, without the password, you can't connect. try it :)

If none of the above, try changing the wireless channel on the router - some adaptors do not like certain wireless channels.
