SerenityNet -> SWF converting to AVI, including audio (12/15/2006 1:06:26)

Is there a free utility that will convert a SWF file to AVI or similar media file type - including the sound?

If not what would be a recommended low cost tool.

But I stress, I need the audio converted too.

Thanks,
Andrew

http://www.avi-swf-convert.com/ is the only freebie I've found and it won't do sound until the next version, whenever that is.

I've found with audio and video that often the paid ones produce better quality results anyway.

SWF to Avi does it and has a free download. I suspect it will either have a badged output or be a restricted convert. Worth looking at though.

You should be able to do it free on line at his site

They convert most things to most other things

I have used them successfully a few times

Blinge Peter, that's a find. Can you go stick it as an item in the Freebie Tools thread.?

Thanks Peter. I've got this site bookmarked now. But unfortunately it will only create SWF files, not decomile them.

The first program Gill suggested is one I had also found, but it won't do audio. The second "seems" to work fine, although it "appears" to be limited in the unregistered version. The audio fades after a few seconds. But since they don't mention the limitation anywhere, I'm hesitant to buy it, as I don't know if it is an imposed limitation or a real flaw. I've written the authors, but haven't heard back yet.

Any other free or inexpensive ones you know works or might suggest? There are zillions that come up when I do a search and I have no idea what might be good and what is trash.

Or, right now I only have one 3.5 minute clip that I'd like converted to avi (or other media file from which I can create a DVD). It is 24.7mb. If someone already has a conversion program, would you be willing to do it for me? I want to give the DVD to someone tomorrow evening.

Thanks again,
Andrew

It's pretty normal. I bought a recording package, the demo was fine for testing but stopped after 30 seconds.

Unfortunately the only one I have converts to swf not from it.

Thanks for the tips. I couldn't find a free one that did both the video and the audio, so I spent the $25 on the Magic Swf2Avi program.

But if anyone is reading this post later then you may want to check on the Swf>>Avi. They may have added the audio to their freeware at a later date.

And of course that media-convert site Peter mentioned is amazing.

Thanks again,
Andrew
