It's slightly broken in Firefox, Opera etc.

Also you're using the XHTML 1.1 DOCTYPE which is a "Bad Idea". Drop it back to either XHTML 1.0 or HTML 4.01 - preferably Strict . With either of those you'll have to correct some errors as your markup falls between the two.

At a glance... all-in-all nicely done.

One exception being the photo gallery - is it necessary in the first place? - if so, it would be nicer if it were integrated into the site better rather than as a separated entity. Also, the top of the 'healing' page breaks in IE7.

Hope this helps :)

It`s just my oppinion but that menu , with red hover is just not so great. Else the layout looks nice , the rest of the colors are nice. I like that graphic with that plant.

Nice design. Haven't got anything more to add than the comments above.

The red hover on the top nav is not good. Either use white or go with a shade of the orange in the logo

replace

a:hover {
color: #de0f23;

with #fa0;

looks quite good.

I'll give my honest 2 cents and comment on its visual impact. I really like the site. It is well designed and warm and inviting to my eyes; just what a site should be that desires to convey the idea of offering hope.

But, I personally don't like the image on the home page.

Upon landing on the page for an instant it I thought it was a Marijuana leaf. (OK, I said I'd be honest). Then after I realized it was not, I had to figure out what the image was trying to say. Perhaps the image is closely identified with your ministry but as a first time visitor it doesn't do a thing for me.

I'd love to see an inspirational photo or a composite of people ministering to others on the home page. Or find an inspirational image that includes a lamp, lighthouse or sunrise to complement the Bible verse that is under the logo.

I'd search a place like istock photo where images only cost a dollar.

Me too but I wasn't going to admit I knew what one looked like. :)

If you buy one keep the receipt with the original image for ever more and don't lose your iStock login details as the image purchase info is stored in your account. It helps no end if in 5 years time someone challenges you as to where the image came from.

Funny. Is there some sort of implication here?! :)

What receipt? I've never rec'd one.

I do keep a backup of all the original files with their original file names. Is that not okay.

I've actually been getting more and more images under the Creative Commons license.

Some give receipts for payment. iStock give you a receipt if you buy credits. I keep those. I also take occasional screen dumps of my account so I have a record of legit purchase.

There is a veeeeeeeeeeeeery long thread running over on another forum where a load of people have received threatening letters from Getty and Corbis saying that they've been using unauthorised images on their sites going back x years and they must pay up or go to court.

Some of them have clearly just helped themselves off the web, some thought Royalty Free meant completely free but others got them from sites, computer disks or as part of purchased templates. Many of them have no proof of where they came from and without it they are at the mercy of the claimant.

Claims are going from 500 pounds upwards and one woman has been told that if she takes it to court she'll lose with costs of 30k.
