Front Page Forms disappear - 11/22/2001 23:21:00
I built some forms in a previous version of Front Page. They are currently working on my website. Recently I upgraded to FP 2002 and when I open the page containing the forms and right click in the form, I am not offered "Form Properties" as an option. It is like this version of Front Page doesn't recognize the form so I can't change the properties. How can I get FP2002 to let me change the properties of forms created in a previous version?

Thanks.

Switch to html view and see if you still have your <form> tags. If not you can put them back in manually but if you find them still intact, your problem might not be the loss of the forms but the ability to "Click" on them. I didn't have problems with dissapearing objects but had trouble getting the cursur in the the right place to right click on properties with nested tables and cells. This was a command I used all the time in previous versions, not sure why it became so awkward in fp2002 (No wise remarks about old age, dexterity and agility required ) My fix was to go to "View/RevealTags" mode. Now I can just click the tag.

Dear TimC,
Thanks very much for your reply and advice. When I use the "reveal tags" system there are form tags all over the page. Most of them are two tags together with nothing between them. At the bottom of the page there is a </form>tag by itself in a little dashed box. When I look at the html I can't find most of these tags. The page has several nested tables.

The wierd thing is that the form works fine.

I built a test page from scratch. It has a form with a nested table which includes form fields. When I look at it in html it has only one set of form tags, <form> at the top and </form> at the bottom. I can right click anywhere on this form and get "Form Properties."

I guess I may have to rebuild my old forms from scratch but I was hoping not to.

Thanks again.

Jim

Before you try to completely rebuild your forms try Putting a form tag at the start and end of your form, delete all the others and you should be back on track.
