womble Posts: 5461 Joined: 3/14/2005 From: Living on the edge Status: offline	BitDefender "issues" - 12/26/2006 19:55:48 Anyone having any "issues" with BitDefender? I've been using it for around six months with no problems, but the last few days it's been a PITA. I did think I had a problem with Firefox 2.0.0.1, but I'm now beginning to suspect the culprit may have been BitDefender all along. I've installed Process Explorer which is showing that part of BitDefender - bdss.exe - something to do with it's scan server - is using huge amounts of system resources, causing CPU usage regularly (like every couple of minutes) to max out. Most apps stop responding and Process Explorer's showing CPU usage at 100%. All virus scans etc. coming back clean. I've found various references online to this bdss.exe hogging system resources, but no clear idea of how to stop it and so far no response from BitDefender's tech support. Anyone any ideas? I'm going slowly crazy here and getting very frustrated with a machine that grinds to a halt every couple of minutes! _____________________________ ~~ "A cruel god ain't no god at all" ~~
