Transfer Trouble - 12/28/2006 7:57:34
My site www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk has recently been dispaying those annoying little red x where I am expecting to see my pictures. my pictures are saved in the same folder as my frontpage webpages. I use FTP Ipswitch pro version 9 to transfer all my stuff to my website's HT Docs folder. When I do a transfer Ipswitch says its done it but when I look at the newly transferred file (pics) the size is zero and nothing displays on the website. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Dantodan and welcome to Outfront. All the images seem to be showing up for me (I did check quite a number of pages). Can you point us to a particular page just in case I missed it.

On that above page you have an image named http://www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk/russdent%20george%20barclay72.jpg that is not showing up. It could be a number of things. First I would get rid of the space - use a hypen or underscore. Also if you are on a *NIX server, it is case sensitive, so .jpg is not the same as .JPG. On Windows, you do not have to worry about case. The image itself might be corrupt and needs to be reuploaded. When I went to that page (image), text showed up. Sometimes this means that also the image was uploaded incorrectly. Try renaming the image to russdent-george-barclay72.jpg, correcting the code to point to the new image / path and re-upload. Are you using FP, Expressions, or FTP to upload?

HI Corey, I have saved the picture again taking out the blanks from the filename and sent it up to my website. It hasnt appeared so I guess its something else I am looking for to solve this prob. I have sent files before in both upper and lower case so thats ok. I dont think the pictures are corrupt as I have received tham from different sources. I use a FTP program Ipswitch to upload and it is working well with my other websites.

Ipswitch FTP has 2 windowpanes. The left is what is on my computer and the right hand pane is what is on my website. The picture in question Russ Dent George Barclay 72 does not display as a thumbnail in the right hand pane and its properties show filesize zero ie KB0 It is as if only the filename is being transferred

You might try to convert it or something. It could be an FTP issue or the JPG itself. Can you open the image up locally with a browser?

My FTP program Ipswitch has 2 panes. I can open the picture file in the local file held on my computer but not on the remote website location.
