Last time I checked, this was still a place where people are as much entitled to their views as anyone else. Yes, we do understand SEO - and the current debate stems from the initial post and the response that maybe the page's PR was suffering because of attempts at underhand SEO tactics. Perhaps some of us understand how it operates and would like to see aspects of it changed. What's wrong with debating something like this? I'm just interested in trying to find out what justification there is for using backlinks to gauge relevancy. From your answers it's all about money so why doesn't google just sell search terms to the highest bidder, that would at least be honest.
