RemodelingGuy -> Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/5/2007 14:17:22)

Is there any way to center the page in 1024x768 with my shared borders? Top / left /bottom

Just shift ALL pages in the site to the right.

Thanks

Add to your table style margin:0 auto;
This should center your table.

margin:0 auto;

I added it to the left shared border, centered my top table ( shared ) and the left stayed put.

Try enclosing everything in a centering div, and then stick in the old depreciated <center> tag for good measure.

i.e. Just below the <body> tag
quote:

<body link=#000000 etc....>
<div align="center">
<center>
<table id="table493" etc....

......</tr><!--msnavigation--></table>

</center>
</div>
</body></html>

It might work although you appear to have two containing tables with 100% width which could be causing the trouble. Both use the code:
quote:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%">

If you use the centering div described above you may have to remove the two containing tables alternatively you could try adding
quote:

text-align="center"
to the two containing tables

Parlais vous francais?

I tried and it looks like it might work, but didn't.

Can I pay you to try it ?

I would really love to center the darned thing!

I may be wrong but I think you'll find that while you're using shared borders you can't do it. The borders are called top and left and I think there's a reason they're called that.

Smart Butt Comment there! lol

Your counterpart seems to think different.

Until he is proved wrong, I'll be on his side and overlook the obvious!

My Counterpart!!! He's nothing to do with me!! [:D]

No he's suggesting you use divs and that'll work fine but not while you're allowing FP to stick shared borders in. I'll have a hunt and see if there is a way to do it but I haven't found one in 3 years to date.

Right, here you go, direct from the horse's mouth.... (MS web site)

quote:

Dynamic Web Templates provide master Web page layouts that can be attached to any number of other pages. The DWT contains page layout and formatting information, as well as fixed content areas. Because a DWT is a Web page, it can incorporate any type of layout or content that HTML allows.

DWTs are much more powerful than Shared Borders. For example:

* A single Web site can use as many DWTs as you like, while a single Web site can accommodate only one set of shared borders.
* DWTs can control standardized content anywhere on the Web page. Shared Borders can only control content along the edges.

Please note the last bit......

* DWTs can control standardized content anywhere on the Web page. Shared Borders can only control content along the edges.

I bow to Jaybee's superior knowledge.

She is dead right, I have never come across shared borders before, they look like a real PITA, I downloaded your page and couldn't do anything with it. Sorry for giving you false hope, it looks like the only way would be a major redesign without using shared borders.

RemodelingGuy -> RE: Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/6/2007 13:40:57)

ah poo!

jaybee -> RE: Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/6/2007 14:51:45)

No that won't help.

RemodelingGuy -> RE: Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/6/2007 15:14:34)

a good poo never hurt

jaybee -> RE: Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/6/2007 16:05:57)

Errr while we're on the subject of poo, have you looked at your site in Firefox?

RemodelingGuy -> RE: Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/6/2007 16:11:30)

no......

do I want to feel worse?

jaybee -> RE: Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/6/2007 16:15:54)

Probably not. You know all those nicely rounded bits you have on the tabs and stuff..............

jaybee -> RE: Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/6/2007 16:21:19)

well....

RemodelingGuy -> RE: Centering my Pages - Shared Borders (1/7/2007 12:12:46)

I can't get that top border to take at all.

Table and cells are all set at 20 pixels and are at least 60 in Mozilla.

grumble.....
