How do you make text non-resizable in FrontPage 2000?

Thanks

I don't know if it possible in HTML but you can do it with a graphic. Type your text into a text box in, say, Paint Shop. Save the file and insert it into your page.

Cheers

If I'm not mistaken, if you set the text a point size with CSS it cannot be changed...probably pixel size, too.

Sorry, it's the visitors browser and they have control - the only way you can do it is make the text a graphic.

I gotta ask - Why? If I want to view your site on a handheld w/ a screen of 320 X 240 why do you want it to be unreadable?

You can actually do it with CSS as Sandy says - by using absolute values such as em or pixels.

However this is not recommended as it takes away the users choice. For example it means that those who browse with large text sizes due to vision impairment will be unable to use your site.

Unless they have a personal Style Sheet that will over ride any site CSS

Gil, undoing all my pretty CSS would make a page look almost as ugly as Jakob Nielsen's....ok....maybe worse.

As long as I can read it and get the information it isn't "ugly"

BTW, I like Jakob's site...

There are definitely stylistic reasons for wanting text to print in certain fonts, colors, sizes, etc. Most of the time, what you specify will be what the viewer sees. Some people have their own preferences though, and it is best to respect that.

The key is to not make navigation or meaning in any way dependant on style. If a visitor chooses to view a bare-bones "ugly" webpage, or is using a browser that doesn't support styles, JavaScript, or whatever, then they will probably know from experience they aren't seeing it as you intended it. As long as they get the message, it's all good.

You should balance the desire to present things the way you want with the desire not to annoy visitors.

My 3 cents. (I said a bit too much, I think)
