Changing from FP2k to Dreamweaver - 1/12/2007 9:14:55
Hi
I have an ecommerce website built with FP2k and hosted with Fasthosts (www.lolli-dollies-online.co.uk). Although I am fairly happy with the design, I am currently rebuliding it in Dreamweaver to make it more unifrom, etc. When I am finished the build, how will I do the changeover from FP to Dreamwever, so that Fasthosts host the "new" website, which will, in effect, be the same site, with the same url etc? I have no idea!
I also have a shopping cart integrated into my site (clickcartpro) but my main concern are the static FP pages and ensuring continuity of the hosting.
Any comments would be much appreciated!

Hi

If your new pages have the same page names as the old then it should be just a case of uploading and overwriting.

You may want to upload to a separate folder on your server first to make sure everything works correctly there before trashing the old though.

As long as the names of the pages are the same you can load with a FTP program or with Dreamweaver itself. Call your site host and they can tell you the easiest way and exactly how to set Dreamweaver to load from there.

I would highly recommend using dreamweaver to transfer the new pages. I find it keeps the site information correct in your local window.
