DIV & Pure CSS for web 2.0 design - 1/19/2007 20:40:54
Hi guys,

I m just confuse about SEO type designing my friend suggest me to do pure CSS coding for web 2.0 it is good for SEs.

In this designing it needs only DIV tag formation so as SEs dnt like DIVs is it good to use this?

I m just needing opinions on tht.

I'm not totally sure what you're asking but I think you're asking whether CSS layouts (i.e. using divs etc rather than tables) is better for Search Engine results.

The general opinion is that it can be better. The reason being that if you put all your presentational information in an external stylesheet rather than cluttering up your site with all the font tags etc etc then there's less stuff for the search engines to wade through and they're more likely to see the information you want them to see and therefore rank you well.

My understanding is that SEs only read so much of a page and if what they read is taken up with pointless formatting tags and table cells etc then the SE might not actually see your content. With CSS you can have the content before the navigation if you want so that your content is read early.

:) Who told you that?

SEs couldn't care less whether it's div, table or p

They're interested in content (amongst other things) and the more content the better. If you use CSS in an external stylesheet and stick any javascript in an external file as well then your page is nearly all content.
