Keyword Searching? - 1/23/2007 16:14:50
I'm moving a new client to a new host (for many reasons), and the client stated their current host provides "Keyword Searching", for $25/mo.

Besides me thinking they are getting ripped off for absolutely nothing, can someone let me know what this service is that they are providing? I don't do SEO so maybe this is something common. Just curious....

It sounds like the rust proofing deal the car dealerships offer on new cars. Completely worthless. Without knowing the host I can't tell you what the service may.

Since the client likes this keyword searching - Find out what it is and simply offer it yourself.

Ha! Thanks for the clarification. At least I wasn't way out there then.

I did tell them I wasn't aware of exactly what it is their host was offering, and asked them what it was and they had no idea... Just one of those sales jobs from years ago.

Great! Now, you should come up with something that matches that description and sell it yourself. Maybe a monthly email to the client listing their search engine ranking for a few dozen keywords. There are free services (digitalpoint comes to mind) that will build you these lists. $25 is not bad if it takes you 10 minutes each month to copy, paste and send the email.

Speak to Tailslide. One of her clients has just signed up for the same thing for £30 a month. Perhaps you can figure out what the heck it is between you as she doesn't have a clue either.

It certainly sounds like a service we should all be offering now! :)

At £30 a month I reckon it's a winner.

What hosts are offering these services? I'll take a look.

ou812 (brian) PM'd me the host. The only information I found about a keyword service was under their search engine submission service. They mentioned identifying keywords and phrases as demonstrated by their statement that they don't chase search engine algorithms... they master them!

Both Google and Yahoo offer free keyword research which you could easily package and email to the client. Wordtracker and Keyworddiscovery.com are two pay programs that I recommend. There are also many programs that can be purchased that will auto-submit client sites to hundreds of search engines and directories.

This would be an easy service to replicate and sell to clients.

- lol :)

There are a few good marketing tactics I've seen lately. One includes companies offering their clients to be on the first page of Google/Yahoo. All they do is set their clients up on PPC campaigns...
