How much time do you usually spend optimizing one web page?

It never ends...

I realize that...What if someone asked you to do a one time web page optimization. Not doing it on an ongoing basis. Then how much time would expect to spend?

Here are some things that I would look at for a one time on site optimization.
quote:

meta keywords, meta description, keywords in title, domain name, position terms in title, page size, (h1, h2, h3, h4), words at the beginning of sentence or paragraph, valid HTML, text to html ratio, anchor text, alt text, broken links, internal linking, proximity of keywords to other factors, keyword density in body, bold/italic/other keywords, file name, file size, text around links, age of site, age of links, case of keywords, misspelling, bad grammer, plurals and many many more.

A lot will depend on the size of the page, but figure at least 1 hour per page. I should point out that I don't bid on a per hour basis. I decide how much I want to charge and that's what I quote. If I want to make $300 and the client will only pay $25 per hour I will tell them 12 hours. Then I will explain in detail why it should take 12 hours. Still, it takes me 1 hour or less.

Also on top of that. Are the inital keywords they are targeting the "correct" ones, research time. Also are supporting pages and anchor text on those supporting pages correct for the targetd page that you are working on?

Take care,

Brian

Thanks. I figured at least an hour per page and added a little to cover myself. I also noted that this is an estimate, figures may change due to actual project request.

People don't realize how much time seo can take.

Also make them clear up front/set expectations. Results will take a few months. Now if they want instant results...PPC.

Take care,

Brian
