... with Firebug

I'd downloaded it a while back but never got round to really playing with it.

I'm sure I remember Jaybee mentioning it on here somewhere but I can't find the reference now.

Anyway - if you thought the web developer toolbar was useful... just wait till you see this.

Yes I did, last week, as it went into final release. Great isn't it. Only problem I found was I couldn't get it to do anything on the Mac other than cause FF to go a bit weird.

Free Firebug from the tiny confines of the browser and give it a whole window to play with. If you have two monitors, you'll work even faster with Firebug in one window and Firefox in the other.
Hmmmmmmm

For those not sure what it is, in Firefox, you hit F12 and you can edit your page live without actually changing anything so it's great for playing around with "what ifs".

What's different between that and the Web Developer toolbar? Well this one lets you edit the HTML as well as the CSS. [:D]

So does the web developer toolbar.

It's under miscellaneous.

Yeah but, try this, honestly it's brill.

You get the HTML and the CSS side by side, properly colour coded, and DOM, scripts. The works.

Donkey -> RE: I'm in love.. (1/29/2007 12:59:55)

Yes, it has been recommended to me. Carol likes it.

rubyaim -> RE: I'm in love.. (1/29/2007 16:24:48)

I played with it last week and am not all that fussed, seems a bit pointless really.

But then, if I want to muck around with html, css etc I do it in FrontPage on a page or site copy [;)]

Hi gang

I am crashing my FF every time I enable Firebug. Any suggestion?

Tailslide -> RE: I'm in love.. (3/21/2008 4:04:06)

Yes there's a problem there - in the end I had to disable it completely.

Not everyone is having this problem with it but I've come across a fair few - so probably it's a combination of FF, Firebug and some other unknown variable.

d a v e -> RE: I'm in love.. (3/21/2008 6:16:57)

if you really miss it then why not install firefox portable on a usb drive (or usb external drive) and try it in that without (m)any other extensions installed?

the other thing you can try if you can be bothered is to disable all your extensions in your current firefox bar firebug and reinstall one at a time until you hit the conflict...

jaybee -> RE: I'm in love.. (3/21/2008 8:47:13)

I've never had a problem with it.

Mango Himself -> RE: I'm in love.. (3/21/2008 13:46:43)

hi tail,

I have tried disabling the other extension but it's still doing it. I guess I could look further but it's too much of a hassle

womble -> RE: I'm in love.. (3/21/2008 14:09:24)

Hmmm...well my FF's a bit tempermental at the moment anyhow for reasons unknown. Nice though it sounds (except the crashing bit) I think I may give it a miss for now, particularly as I'm not doing much web work at the moment as my current clients are in the "writing content" stage so I'm sat twiddling my thumbs waiting for them, and using the opportunity to do stuff I don't normally have time to do.

Nah, trying to re-arrange my wardrobes so that all the clothes actually fit in them rather than hanging from the doors, and getting back into writing my novel. Did also find time the other day though to shave my legs, which I'm now regretting as we're in the midst of a very cold snap here in the UK and I need all the insulation I can get my furry little paws on. [:D]

Ryokotsusai -> RE: I'm in love.. (3/23/2008 21:49:32)

omg
where has this been all my life

i have had this for a little while now, and have never even opened it, but i just tried it out and i think i can agree with the title of this thread... i still have to play around with it a little bit, but the css side of it can be very useful for debugging or trying to figure out weird errors on the page (which happen to me often).

salmanq -> RE: I'm in love.. (4/25/2008 7:25:43)

Help me out regarding this topic going on. Can some one tell me in detail what is that mean or please send me a private message?
