DebSpecs -> "Spammy" pages (1/31/2007 16:46:34)

I was unable to post this in "no ranking for main page of my site" so i'm starting a new thread.

Speaking of "spammy" pages, I noticed we were getting dozens upon dozens of "undeliverable, returned to sender" messages clogging our email box. We don't even send out that many emails in a day. Upon opening them, I saw that a few shady companies were spamming god knows how many people, but putting OUR EMAIL ADDRESS in the "from" box. Thus, the undeliverable mail came back to us, and they avoid getting penalilzed for spamming. I'm afraid to know what the consequences are for our company, though.

Yes, this is very old news going back to the mid to late 90's. Query 'joe job' on google to learn more.

There are a few threads on here as well. Nothing you can do just ride it out. Make sure any forms you have on your site are secure.

Actually, if it's a major attack it seems there is something you can do. If it's just a few then I wouldn't worry.
