Can you please review my site

Welcome to Outfront ltr

Some pics on the home page did not load. I also don't see why the pics at the top are before the links on the left "for site menu" and "tech info"......no reason to have the user scroll through some pics just to get to where they want to go.

Continued to view your site but immediately left when the music started.........I guess it didn't help that I had my volume up full blast..

Hi, I don't normally 'review' sites but as this is the type of site the males in my family would visit, I will [:)]

First off is the good news - I really like your header and think the general layout will work well once tweaked.

Agree with Swoosh re the photos at the top and think they will put off more people than they attract. It took a while to load on Broadband so I guess there would be dialup users who would bail out rather than wait for things to load.

I don't have speakers on this machine so can't comment on the sound, but one of the reasons I don't have speakers is because I'm not keen on websites that make noise at me when I don't request it (my son would disagree with this [&:] ). I'm not really sure what your streaming media thing at the bottom is about...

I guess you are still working on the navigation? Most links seem to go to the forum or reload so I found following links confusing.

I think you could do away with the 'Click here' on the site update things and just link the actual update text instead. BTW, they open in a new window to the forums - again this confused me, but I am blonde in real life.

All in all I think this has great potential, but at the moment is not all that end user friendly. A bit of tweaking will fix that.

To help me with 'end user friendly-ness' I generally drag someone in who has nothing to do with the site, get them to use it and give me feedback - seems to work a treat.

All the best with it [:)]

PS: this line -

Site best viewed with Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer 7.0 @ 1024x768 resolution or higher

could probably be removed - it looks okay on IE 6 and even though there is a scroll at a smaller screen size it's not totally unusable.

It's so close to being a nice site.

The 4 images at the top could be used if you make them smaller so that all 4 sit together rather than stacking as they do now. Make them line up as a block as below. If you optimise them properly they'll also be a lot smaller on file size so they'll load faster.

As for the music what is the point? If I'm going to a music site I'd expect it but a racing site? The first thing I do is hit the off button on my speakers. Remember what you like music wise is not everybody's taste and you're forcing them. In fact I'd rather pull my toe nails out than listen to Marilyn Manson. There is no visible switch off until you reach the bottom of the page so they'll hit the off button on their speakers. You are then using up valuable bandwidth for no reason whatsoever.

If you want music on there then fine but give people the option to turn it on rather than off. You could have a link at the top to the music "listen while you surf" or something, or shrink the juke box and put it near the top of the page. Personally I wouldn't bother.

To all that reviewed the site.. thanks!! I remember signing up for this site but my computer got rebuilt and I couldn't remember the sites url.

Well I have dropped the home page for now, only b/c most folks skip the home page and go right to the forum. We are almost up to 1K members but still we are getting our butts kicked by another ltr450 site.

Again thanks for the advice!!! As a growing web developer I helps when you receive feedback.

Thanks

DMC
