ORIGINAL: jaybee The USB and ? cable is probably a firewire or bluetooth that came with a camera or phone. They chuck in extra cables in case you want to get confused 6 months down the line. This is where my new cunning plan comes in. As part of the "tidy office campaign" I have a nice little box that I'm storing cables, power cords and adapters and such like in, rather than leaving them in a heap at the side of the power extension. I also bought a pack of labels on strings from W H Smith's and as I use different ones and figure out what they're for, I put a little label on them, so next time I don't spend 10 minutes with a cable in each hand thinking, "Hmmm, now which one do I charge my mobile with?" Back on microfilters/splitters, around the other side of my desk I have a rather untidy heap of ADSL microfilters. Due to where the plug is, router, and telephone jack, they have to live at the side of the desk. I'm probably just about up to the REN limit - there's the extension phone upstairs, computer (modem for broadband emergencies), an alarm unit, and fax - and of course for each device there's a microfilter. It all just looks very untidy, which simply won't do in my new Web 2.0 tidy office! I spent part of this afternoon wandering around eBay and googling to see if there was some sort of microfilter hub(?) available - I'm imagining some sort of little box type thing with a row of holes on one side where all the devices plug into it, and on the other the little cords and RJ11 plugs that plug into the phone sockets. Obviously you'd still have wires, but it would be so much tidier than having the loads of little microfilters that sit there in a heap looking untidy. Unfortunately because of the layout of the room and the position of the phone point, hiding them behind the desk isn't an option. Am I living in cloud cuckoo land (highly possible) or is there such a thing? (and if not I think some geeky OutFronter really ought to invent one [:D])
