Need your feedback - PLEASE!! - 2/5/2007 13:33:16
Hi, I'm looking for feedback on my site design. I'm interested in any comments - but specifically on site design and HTML. How can I make my site more search engine friendly? Thanks for your help. Cheers. www.preownedweddingdressesDOTcom

Hi I think it's an excellent idea. Style-wise it's simple - but not in a bad way (if you see what I mean). HTML-wise there's a fair number of errors in the code which may or may not matter to you. If they do then a trip to the W3C validator will point them out and enable you to fix them. There's two things that I think you might need to address. Firstly the site is fairly slow to load completely. I'm not entirely sure why your images are slow as they are optimised properly. The navigation, however is very slow to load and I think is the thing that I'd definitely look at changing if I were you. There are a lot of items in there for a horizontal menu for a start. With that many items, I think I might look at a vertical menu instead - or possibly not have all the items in the main top menu. Also - the code for the menu itself is pretty long and clunky which could cause issues with download speed and even possibly with Search Engines as there's quite a bit of code for them to wade through and they only actually read a set amount of words on each page (you don't want that taken up with a load of uneccesary code!). Other minor point - I'd give the main text area a bit of padding on the left to move it away from the images as it's crowding up against them. Generally - you get the point across well and it's easy to see what's going on. The only downside in my view (apart from me being picky about the code itself) is the menu being slooooow!

Where do I place the code once I generate it? I can't seem to access/find the shared border portion of my code to remove the old code and replace it. thanks again.

I'm afraid you'll need to wait until a FrontPage expert comes along - I've never used Shared Borders. I'm sure someone will be along in a minute.

Thanks - includes look like a good option - but I think that would mean that I'd have to open every page of my site (over 700) in order to put the includes on it. In general - are includes better to use than shared borders? (maybe something I can work on changing as I move forward). Also - I read that includes with a logo/nav are slower to load - which is the problem I'm trying to correct anyway. Do you think that would be the case if I switched from what I have now to includes? thanks.
