Installed Hard Drive but with alot less GB's - 2/11/2007 15:23:16
Hi am new here and a newbie at installing hard drives etc.
But i installed my SAMSUNG SP2514N 250GB i think correctly and initialized and partitioned it.
The problem is that Samsung claim i should get about 120GB but I ended up getting 31.49 GB. It says that is its full capacity on 'Disk Management'
From what i read from some people on the internet, this should not be the case

Is there something i haven't done yet or is this hard drive faulty?
Thank you in advance

P.S. This the 2nd hard drive and even though it's suppose run silently, it is making a chain-saw noise :)

If you partitioned it and you added up all of the partitions and it came to 31.49 GB then you may have a BIOS problem. Have you contacted Samsung for help? Also that drive noise may indicate that the drive is defective. DO a google on your drive and see if you can find any info on that specific drive.

- I wouldn't even take a chance with that 2nd drive. Make sure everything is properly connected, make sure that you have narrowed down the noise to that hard drive. Then return it to SAMSUNG for an RMA.
