Do Government Agencies and Non-Profits Get ROI From Usa... - 2/20/2007 5:56:29
Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox

I read this article today and as somebody who prefers to design information for non-commercial agencies, I've often found it difficult to put my reasoning forward as to how much time a well designed site can save them.

Although I believe Jakob Nielsen's reliance on the figures he quotes to be extreme, I do believe he provides valuable reasoning even if these figures are only really a fraction of what he quotes.

p.s. Can this forum be changed to "Accessibility & Usability"?

Interesting article, and good points. However I am not sure if the numbers actually add up. They might, but it's a bit doubtful. It's awfully hard to quantify such things. However, if one simply reads the article for the point which is being made, and disregards the inner skeptic/accountant, it is quite a good article. I have seen other articles from that site before and it always is good.

Also not to nitpick, but I thought it was a bit funny that he is talking about consistency in acronyms, but says about the Department of Motor Vehicles--

quote:

What would it cost to fix this usability problem? First, the DVM would have to find it.
