raysmith@swbell.net -> Moving FrontPage to Vista (3/2/2007 20:42:17)

I have been using FrontPage 2002 for a few years to maintain our groups WEB site. Now I have just bought a new Vista computer. I have installed FrontPage 2002 and loaded my backup (form USB drive) of my WEB directories. (I had just XCOPYed all the directories and subdirectories from My Documents). But when I try to open these copied files on my new computer I don't see the shared borders or thel ink menus in those borders. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to Outfront Ray. I'm not sure that FP2002 works on Vista, a lot of software doesn't. I'll have a look round and see if I can find out for sure.

Well it sort of works but there are problems. There are quite a few reports about FP2002 and 2003 shutting down when you insert a hyperlink. They've submitted bug reports but whether anything will be done given Expression is now the current product.

The only thing I can suggest is

Make sure you open the site as a site File>open site.
Try recalculating the hyperlinks and see if that will help. Make sure you have all the folders, including the hidden ones. FP sets up stuff like _borders but you can't see them in FP folder view. You only see them in Explore if you have it set to show hidden files and folders.

It sounds like you didn't copy all of the files.

If you have already published the website, and it still works, you can do a reverse publish back to your computer.
