Fireworks, remove background colour? - 3/7/2007 20:39:35
Hi, am hoping someone can help out with Fireworks, can't find anything understandable in the help files or web searches.

I've been sent a jpeg (no-one seems to know where the original is) and the background is white. I've been able to remove the white, except there is a very small amount of it remaining on the outer edge of the actual image.

Would there happen to be a trick to remove this in Fireworks, or am I pretty much stuck with it seeing as the original was a jpg?

Thanks for any advice - tips on a very quick way to remove a background colour from a jpeg would be much appreciated as well, I ended up using the magic wand :)

Try to use the export area tool. Choose GIF format and Alpha transparency. You can add different colors to remove. The background will be transparent. Works for me all the time.

Hi Jurgen, that's much quicker than the magic wand, thanks :) I use the export wizard all the time and that never occurred to me!

Unfortunately the logo still has the bits of white near the edges. Not a problem normally, but this needs to go on a darkish background.

I just created something similar - attached, hopefully you can see what I mean. Can't post the original as it's got the company name on it.

None of this would matter if they could figure out who has the original file or would let me place it on the white part of the page :)

I think your "stupid logo" would look better on a white (or lighter) background. But hey, it's the customer...... :)

Fortunately the logo I have to use is much better than the attached one, I did that to show the bits of white that appear when a white background is removed from a jpeg :)

It's worse than that, this is for a department at work, can not be reasoned with at all :)
