upgrade to expression? - 3/8/2007 11:37:45
I have been using fp 2002. Can I buy the upgrade version for web expression? I read qualifying Microsoft FrontPage customers can upgrade today to Expression Web for an estimated retail price of US $99. However, I couldn't find how you would know if you qualify for the upgrade version.

Also, I have done some sites using fp templates from pixelmill. Does anyone know if I will be able to use these templates in web expressions?

I believe it states right on the box that you can upgrade from any version of FP.

AFAIK you should be able to work on any site previously created w/ FP whether template or not. The caveat is that you won't be able to add or work with components from FP that require the FPSE's, though there is some sort of workaround floating about here. :)

On one site I did read you could upgrade from any version. Then on another site I read for qualifying customers so I wanted to make sure I can buy the upgrade version.

Thanks for the info. I plan to buy it today.

That means people who have a legal copy of FP on their machine.

This includes FP 98 too I believe. So you can go buy an outdated version of FP (such as FP 98), and then buy the upgrade to EW.

But... I bet anyone who has been using Windows for a number of years will have an old copy around somewhere.

Recently I was cleaning out old CD's and found a copy of "FrontPage Express" that I didn't even know I had. It just came with whatever version of Windows was out that year... and, some version of FrontPage was packaged with Windows until just a few versions back... I don't know when they stated charging extra for it.

They stopped packaging it with Office 2003, prior to that it was included.
